While Tesla may be the brand that everyone thinks of when it comes to electric cars (thanks to clever marketing and high-quality vehicles) there are a wide variety of electric vehicles worldwide that deserve attention as well. The battery has also been improved to be able to travel about 240 kilometres on a single charge. Charging it back up doesn’t take long either—you’ll be able to charge it back up to 80% in about 40 minutes using a 55kW charger. Plus there’s plenty of new tech to keep you safe and has been rated 5 out of 5 stars by the European New Car Assessment Programme.
Jaguar I-PACE SUV

Surprisingly, Jaguar, a brand few expected to delve into the realm of electric cars, has come out with an excellent EV for 2018. The I-PACE SUV is Jaguar’s first electric vehicle, but by no means has skimped out. With great handling and plenty of space comparable to an Audi Q5, the only main competitor to the I-PACE is the Tesla Model X. That’s a high standard to match, but the I-PACE is no slouch as a competitor. A quality intersection between luxury sedan and SUV, you’ll find comfort and a large 10-inch touchscreen in the interior. If you’re looking for a comparable vehicle to the Tesla Model X, look no further than the Jaguar I-PACE.

We really couldn’t keep this list going if we didn’t talk about one of Tesla’s new cars at least once. And the Tesla Model 3 really does have to be talked about. Said by many as the best electric car on the market there are numerous reasons for that being the case. A lot of this is due to the large amount of technology on board with the Model 3. From highway driving assistance to accident prevention sensors and technology, the Model 3 is one of the most advanced electric vehicles available. Plus, it offers one of the longest ranges of all EVs on the market at about 445 kilometres on a single charge. That being said, with the amount of orders placed, it could be a while before you end up receiving yours. Kia Soul EV

Kia continues to surprise and delight many with their continued improvements and innovations on their vehicle line up. The Soul EV is one of those innovations. Remarkably easy to drive, the Soul EV handles very similarly to those who have owned or driven a Kia Soul before. While it doesn’t set any records for longest distance on a single charge, it will still travel solid 179 kilometers. The spacious interior is also a strong selling point for many interested in an electric vehicle hatchback as there’s no compromise on the 5-seating option. For many, the Soul EV provides an excellent inviting choice as a first electric vehicle purchase.

With the Golf being one of the most popular models of cars of all time, it was only a matter of time before it was offered as an electric car. Volkswagen definitely has done right by the e-Golf, and it’s an affordable option for many selling for about $36,000. It also offers a great middle-of-the-road option for those needing to travel longer distance, being able to go for about 300 kilometres on a single charge. Unlike other electric cars, the E-Golf also doesn’t compromise on design. The body and interior are a Golf through and through. It also handles very well making it a pleasure to drive for anyone interested in a Golf, but want to go green.
